This looks like allot of fun to hack. Maybe make some servo arms for it and add some sensors and mess around with the software . Could be allot of fun.

We are trying to get these to carry in the store. They do look pretty impressive. So far Erector has been less than responsive, but we will keep trying. (When you aren't Amazon these days no one cares! LOL)

The specs say that if you plan on running it on a Windows machine, then requires the .NET Framework 2.0, so I'm wondering if they'll release a .NET API:

Specifications:
• PC & MAC compliant
• Wi-Fi / 802.11 b/g
• Joystick compliant
• PC requirement / software: Windows 2000 / XP with .NET framework 2.0
• MAC requirement / software: Mac OS X
• Open source software
• MMI software details: 1.1 Mb / user interface in Microsoft.net
• Compatible with Skype 3.0 (PC) technology.
• Camera (http://www.robotshop.ca/home/products/robot-parts/sensors/cameras-vision-sensors/index.html): 320x240 – local mode:15 fps / distant mode: depending on the Internet connection
• Speaker: 2W (tbc) / no driver required

That'd be sick if I could write .NET apps for this thing!

So who will be the first to hack a stun gun to the Spyke - how about some high-powered lasers from wickedlasers.com. You can get the Spyder laser for Spyke - http://www.wickedlasers.com/Spyder_II_Series-21-1.html

I guess so far amazon and target are the only US side companies to carry them. It cost $299 so most likly I will buy one and use the track base and fashion a new upper half with arms that actually work. Should be a fun little project.

mmm... robots with lasers for arms:)

Killer light show if you hook some servos up to the arms so the lasers can move around, but too bad the lasers don't actually burn anything, haha!

Exactly like that:) Laser tag with Robots, priceless!

Side note though: We'll be carrying the Spyke as soon as it comes out.

Turns out we already have the contact set up and we will be selling the Spyke :) We are seeing if we can do preorders.

I'm going to put tasers on mine for annoying wimpy students that ask John Kerry questions that go on to long. :p
