I've posted up some more videos on my work with the Speecys SPC-101C. I have added in from the .NET 3.0 Framework running on Vista - System.Speech libraries for the Speech Synthesizer and Speech Recognition.

The First video demonstrates using voice command with the application, the next video shows the starting possibilities of tele-presence with the SPC-101C - I am sitting down in the basement and the SPC-101C is upstairs and I can walk him around my kitchen.

I added in the speech synthesizer which echos the recognized command back for effect, but will probably take it out since it slows down the command actions

Now the wireless video receiver is setting way down in the basement connected to my laptop, the range of that is cut down a being inside so it's not as crisp as if I could place the receiver upstairs. One of the things I am looking at is the possibility of setting up something like a slingbox to connect the receiver to and get the video stream via WiFi

Anyway now for the vids:

WOW.

This is stuff we have been waiting years for. This is opening up the doors for so many possibilities. The video getting fuzzy is no big deal in my mind. Just that fact that it's there and accessible to start with is a jump forward. The individual pieces of technology like that will improve over time.

So, I want to make sure I understand. All of the speech recognition and synthesizing is on your laptop currently. Is there a mic on the robot that is feeding back to the computer right now? Is it possible to have someone upstairs give a command and the audio is sent back to be processed so the laptop can send back the motion command after recognizing it? I'm curious if this is possible to build with the current tools on the bot.

Keep up the great experimenting and videos!

There is not a mic on the current robot, that would be a great addition. I am using the audio input on the laptop headset so currently from a telepresence side you can get video feedback but not audio.
