View Full Version : Nokia in Bioloid?

I've seen the Bioloid Puppy videos with the Nokia head, and now I want one... Although I want a little more control over the robot so I'm thinking I'd use the USB to BUS board from HUV.

The better Nokia N800 costs $250 USD, but the older 770 is on ebay for only $75 new!

Does anyone know how hard to program a Nokia is, or even how to?

Maybe I could call actions with VB on a webpage written on my XP computer, but would the Nokia's FireFox take that info and send it to the Bioloid correctly?

The ideas are endless...

I doubted if USB to BUS board will work because that'll require the tablet to support USB host mode; but I think the tablet probably only work as a slave device. Best bet is still probably a bluetooth to serial device.

To program the tablet, you'll need knowledge of C/C++ language, and to compile it & stuff, you need some knowledge in the SDK. More information can be found on maemo.org, and by the way, this software project might give you some idea about programming robot back end on tablet: http://garage.maemo.org/projects/robot/

Actually, the N770, 800, and 810 all support USB host, although on the 770 (which I have) the usb port is unpowered, so you have to provide power to your USB devices from somewhere else. Once you solve the power issue, there is no reason you can't talk to my USB Bioloid bus board from a 770.

As far as programming it goes, it runs Linux, so you will need to get up to speed on buildroot and gcc and all that crap...

Sorry I was wrong. According to this post: http://www.internettablettalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13059. It did support USB host, and the OP actually succeeded in doing a USB to serial (with some mods of course).
