Will Trossen carry this?

I'm going to take a wild guess that isn't for consumer use....

Wow :)
Although, if it is for consumer use, I think it would be an awesome addition to the sensors.

Is it doable on the hobbyist level, e.g. roll your own?

I doubt it, thats a VERY high end piece of technology right there, the bleeding edge. You're talking about a vision sensor that can give a 3d image via multiple perspectives... all from a single viewpoint in a 3" package. Boggles my mind how thats even possible. I'd imagine the cost on that is in the hundred thousands.

Oh well, one can hope :P

Awesome potential for that.

HeHe :) I was looking at that last night myself. I loved the 3D rendition from angles other than the camera. Freaking brilliant. It's amazing what some people are coming up with these days. Maybe in 2015 Phidgets or someone will come out with a USB version for $79 :D

Wow are those incredible!

Considering Laser Range finders (not LADAR cameras like this) usually go for >$2k, I could only imagine what one of those cost though...

Amazing... Adds a whole new level of depth perception!

I actually got a sweet deal on a SICK range finder... I will post about it when it arrives *happy*

How bout some pictures of the inside of the SICK sensor if possible.

Of course! With the cover taken off? You bet.

be nice to do some hacking, but not ruin it ,just to see the design can be made,i have a few lasers at home and trying to make my own, just get me the chips and laser diode they are using and i can maybe design a circuit

Of course! With the cover taken off? You bet.

I'm actually hoping to show my <$30 3D LIDAR here by the end of the weekend...
