I am putting a PC based robots section on my web page. It under construction but I will be putting software downloads, hardware links and lots of other info and files. So take a look and any suggestions or requests would be appreciated.

http://droidworks.org/PCrobotics.aspx

Any files or info you would like up there lets me know and I will do my best to get it up for you.

You could maybe mention an effort that was started some years ago:

http://oap.sourceforge.net

It looks like the project might have been abandoned but there are a lot of good resources and ideas on their site. Definitely, gave me a lot of inspiration!

Abandoned projects can be taken over by a new maintainer if they have been inactive for a long time.

Thanks everyone! I just added these links to the TRC Links Directory as well:

edit: Just realized I didn't finish this post before I sent it yesterday, haha! The reason why I put the link to our Links Directory is for Droid Works to snag some links (and ideas) from there:D

My super cool wife got me a new UMPC for robotics. Its a wibrain which I'll be using to control an SSC-32/tower pro mmg995 pc based humanoid. (hand built) I'm planning on using 9 servos per leg. 6 for lifting 2 for tilting, and 1 for rotating. I may need to double up the rotating servo, but only time will tell. I'll then use 5 servos per arm, and one for head rotation. I would twist the chest also, but I'm worried about a heavy load that large being that high up.

The wibrain is running a 32 gig ssd drive, and runs a 1.0 ghs cia with a gig of ram. I'll be running puredata, not max, and roborealm for video.

I'll keep you posted as more happens.
