I have been thinking about getting another stock rover kit or platform. I don't really want a kit that uses CR servos because I know it won't hold everything I want to put on it. This is why I designed new decks for W.A.L.T.E.R.

The purpose of this new rover would be to experiment with things like line following, obstacle avoidance, etc. I remember when all I had was a single sensor (Lynxmotion IR Proximity Detector Sensor (http://www.lynxmotion.com/Product.aspx?productID=56&CategoryID=8)), and I learned to use that real well before I added any other sensors. I don't plan to do anything to this platform other than add, remove, and rearrange sensors as well as modify software. I will try to resist making any major modifications to the platform - I just want something stock I can tinker with, not tear apart like I did with the kit that started W.A.L.T.E.R. out. :veryhappy::veryhappy: Maybe I will even see if I can get it into a competition of some sort.

I'd like to make an automated kitty toy that would react to my cat and even sometimes get a little agressive and chase her around - she is a true scaredy cat, affraid of pretty much anything loud, other people, etc. I'm the only one she isn't affraid of, and she likes to stalk my feet. I could even program it to patrol and keep my kitty out of the kitchen when I am not in there doing something. I don't think anyone has done this sort of thing before.

I like the Trekker Chassis (http://www.trossenrobotics.com/store/p/3169-Trekker-Chassis.aspx), Rogue Blue ERS (http://www.trossenrobotics.com/store/p/3166-Rogue-Blue-ERS.aspx), and the Lynxmotion A4WD 1 with no electronics (http://www.lynxmotion.com/Category.aspx?CategoryID=111) +Sabertooth dual 10A motor driver (http://www.trossenrobotics.com/store/p/5105-Sabertooth-dual-10A-motor-driver.aspx). The latter is the only other stock two wheel platform I like.

What I really want to know about the Trekker Chassis (http://www.trossenrobotics.com/store/p/3169-Trekker-Chassis.aspx) and Rogue Blue ERS (http://www.trossenrobotics.com/store/p/3166-Rogue-Blue-ERS.aspx) is if there are mounting holes compatible with the Lynxmotion Bot Board II (http://www.lynxmotion.com/Product.aspx?productID=252&CategoryID=66), or which controller boards there are mounting holes for. Right now I am looking at other microcontrollers compatible with the Bot Board II (http://www.lynxmotion.com/Product.aspx?productID=252&CategoryID=66).

For a high end rover, I'm seriously looking at the Surveyor SRV-1. I got a heads up that there is a new base coming out for it that will be wheel driven instead of track driven. I'm not sure which I like best. I've never had a track driven robot, but have considered putting W.A.L.T.E.R. on a Lynxmotion Tri-Track Chassis (http://www.lynxmotion.com/Product.aspx?productID=577&CategoryID=109). :veryhappy:
