48th birthday and still going...
Is there any kits or stuff to make lasers? They look like fun to make.

Have a look at "Information Unlimited" - they've been around forever.

Back in my day, we didn't have these fancy-smancy diodes. We pumped light the good ol' fashioned way. Our power supplies were built from half a dozen gutted televisions, triplers and flybacks, and took-up half a desk... No button-batteries for us!
'Course we had fun stuff like pulsed red ruby lasers...
Happy Birthday, Light Amplification by the Stimulated Emission of Radiation!
48 years later, and we still don't have laserbeams attached to sharks.

We do have lasers small enough to mount on a robot though. I've seen some small lasers in the $100.00 range that would be appropriate for making the robot with the friggin' laser on its head. I've been tempted a few times..

You sound like you're in my age range. I have a milestone birthday coming up real soon. I used to breadboard circuits with stock TTL parts, no microcontrollers, and certainly none easy to use if they did exist. Intel 4004, 8008, 8080, MITS Altair 8800 (a and b - I owned an a model), etc.
