am I missing something here or or does their page seriously say that they are charging $45,000 for this humanoid??

45,000 Yen seems more likely. Roughly about ~450 USD, give or take exchange fluctuation

that's what I thought at first too, but on their page it has the dollar sign... I'm probably totally showing my ignorance here, but is the dollar sign ever used in Yen? I thought it was something like this: ¥

I agree, from the looks of that demonstration video, the Robosapien seems more sophisticated then that. The feet didn't look like it was off the ground, it just seemed like it was sliding along... At least the Robosapien had the waddle...

At $400-450, I'd rather buy me two I-Sobot and watch them kick the crap out of each other... ;)

Yup! But it wouldn't be the first time I've seen the $ used in place of the ¥ when someone localizes the pages...

Hello,

There are two kinds of Pino, one is an advanced humanoid robot and the other is a simple few degrees of freedom toy. The one for 45 000 is the advanced humanoid one.

Hello,

The concept behind the robot is Pinocchio. The Wooden toy that wanted to be a boy.

I've been trying to keep from saying it, but the whole nose thing...

For fourty-five grand, it better be advanced like anatomically correct and have an advanced snuggling module. . .

And that's all I'm sayin' on the topic...

If you are coming to the LPC in September we can see eye to eye.
