I have some videos of DroidWorks kicking butt with his humanoid - but I want to wait and get permission from him prior to posting. He has the videos already, we dumped them right on his laptop there at the event, so when he's back and checking in, maybe he'll give the thumbs-up.

I just got back home to NY. I had a great time and we got tons of pics and video. I just need to get a little sleep then I will post them. I couldn't be happier with my bot and the upgrade kit, he took the silver in the biped race.

Yes, congratulations Eric!

BTW - I don't know if we mentioned this earlier, but TR holds the rights to any awards won by robots that were bought in full or have any parts from TR. So if you could kindly send the trophy to our corporate offices for display that would be great. Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaanks. :D

I can clean-up the out-of-focus video of the Biped Race if no one else shot better. (I was shooting with a little point-and-shoot camera, which took the video above, but the autofocus got confused by the formica surface on the biped race.)

I gave it to my daughter but, I guess I could steal it from he when she is asleep and send it to you. I wouldn't want sky net to come and take it from us forcibly...lol

It should be fine. You me and tyberious should build heavy weight humanoids and make a sky net team for next year..lol

Hey everyone!

I'll be getting all of my pix up in the next few days, but I just created a new category in the TRC Gallery for all of us to upload our RoboGames 08 pix:

http://forums.trossenrobotics.com/gallery/browseimages.php?c=7

Feel free to upload your RoboGames pix to your own gallery, but I figured a category dedicated to RG08 would be nice for everyone looking specifically for RG08 pix.

enjoy:D

Thanks!!! yeah swash took a gold... judges seem to have taken to swashbot1 much much more! but it's listed on there for swashbot 3, so I'll find out... but yeah one of them got gold for best of show. Past 2 year's medals had LED readouts of which event, year, name of robot, etc scrolling, so no confusion which won :) This year no electric shinny love, but the medals are still cool, and always a great honor! Thanks, and congratz to you guys too!

Is that a Bioloid robot at 1:54? What's the story on it?

DresnerRobotics
06-18-2008, 11:04 AM
New design that is supposed to debut end of 08. Redesigned CM-5 with a LiPo battery separated from the CM-5 and placed at a lower COG. My biggest complaint is that for same reason they removed the horizontal hip servo and placed it in the arm to give it elbow rotate. Seems like it wouldn't walk worth a damn like that.

Congrats to all the award winners! Maybe next year, I can go to RobotGames and take W.A.L.T.E.R. I think the new arm design is unique and more flexible than any others I have seen to date. :veryhappy:

Best I could do to remove red-eye. Problem is its pretty far back so everyone's eyes are quite small.

RoboGames is more about community and seeing cool things than it is about winning. So don't worry about how you think you'll do. Just come and have fun. :D

This was my first year at RoboGames and I can't express enough just how cool it was watching competitions... without the "competitive attitudes". Even though I wasn't competing and can't speak at the competition level, I did talk to many who were competing in events. Everybody that I talked to or watched seemed genuinely interested in each other's bots, offering suggestions/feedback & building off one another's ideas, and not necessarily focused on winning the match. Of course winning was always a plus for anyone though:)
