Ok, so I just started looking at this sensor (I've used GP2D12s, 120s and 15s for years).
I've got the data sheet, but I'm a little confused. Digikey specs this as consuming 31mA, but the datasheet says to use a resistor of 1Ohm for the LED drive circuit and has note about the LED consuming 300mA on average. Now, I know the LED isn't on all the time (it likely has two carrier frequencies like other modules), but wow, 300mA?
Has anyone used this sensor before? I just want to know that 1Ohm is correct and that I won't blow up the LED inside.
