Lassen GPS Eval kit and serial connection

Hi.
I purchased a LassenIQ GPS USB eval kit.
I've installed the USB driver.
It all works fine as long as I use the Trimble application.

Problem is when I try to hook it up to my serial connection so that I can read the data via HyperTerminal. No matter what baud rate and settings I put in to HyperTerminal and the USB driver via the WinXP Device Manager, I only get gibberish in HyperTerminal.

Can anyone guide me in what I may be doing wrong?

I've tried to follow the posted instructions, but those seem to be for a USB eval kit that has serial ports as well.

Have you looked through all of the docs on Sparkfun's site?
