Alex, might be also a good idea if there is spam in any of the forums ,to have people watch when they reply to a post and if they find one report it to you, help make your job a little easy

Alex has asked people to click the report button at the top right when they see spam. It's an exclamation mark up in the top right, two buttons over (next to the reputation button)

As of a few days ago you can also PM me, but the odds are these days that I'll catch it within an hour or two, even when Alex is away for the weekend. I always appreciate a pointer by PM. Please don't respond to spam threads. There are automated tools for us to clean up spam, shoot the spammer, and hide the body - errr - I mean ban them... ;) but dealing with replies to spam threads requires substantial manual input.

Need to be a little careful with how we talk about links. Some people link here by invitation - Society of Robots [John] comes to mind as one that is here by invitation.

Links in signatures are permitted. Generally generic advertising within posts by most community members is not.

Mech Wars is sponsered by Trossen and the TRC is the official forum host for the Mech Wars project.

Please talk to a moderator or admin, don't jump on the person posting so that we don't accidentally step on someone here by invite and/or a valued Trossen Robotics partner.

Fortunately, the real spammers are real spammers and pretty easily spotted.

Great questions, RM!

We're not really too picky about links here. In fact, so long as a few guidelines are followed, it's encouraged:

links in signatures is ok by us, so long as it's not "spammy". A link to your yahoo robot club, and/or robot website in your signature is totally cool. Also, you might want to add those links (and any others that you can think of) to the community links directory:

Adding links within your post(s) are cool, so long as they're relevant to the topic at hand. Starting a thread to show off a product, website, etc. needs prior approval.
