Thanks guys... It lacks the typical character that I try to achieve... but been wanting to do one of these treaded guys with continuous rotating servos for some time now. It's rather fun to drive around & trying to golf. Maybe I'll take it to a mini golf course, just hope that no one is behind me, it WILL take a while, and may get sucked into trap doors.....

I don't know, I'd say it was up to Par. [snicker] - Someone had to say it, right?

YOu should propose a new event for robogames 2009. Golf bots. People could play miniature golf with robots. Lowest score wins. I could just see it...with the announcer and all. (wispering) Putterbot is in trouble now. He has to make this shot in order to win. will he make it...he's lining up...looking...he takes the shot...

There is a golf event for robogames 2009, but for humanoids! Maybe I can add some fake legs on this thing and slip in :)

Funny you mentioned the announcer whispering... I was going to surf up some golf events and steal the sound to edit into the video... but I ran outa steam... hahahah out of..... oh nevermind.

It lacks the typical character that I try to achieve...Are you kidding? With the "eye" that looks from the ball to the hole -- that was all about functionality? Pure character. The practice swings are also classic.

Thanks lol... I guess it's less organic, or not as biomorphic (tm 2008 Adrenalynn) as the stuff that I usually try to make. Still though, it's geeky, and I do like the little critter. It's a lot more fun to "drive" than the rest of the gang... It is faster, more precise in movements, and has a function, which I usually try to avoid as well :)

Incredibly cool! With some basic blob tracking, it should be possible to tell where the ball is in relation to the club. Line them up with the hole, and take a swing.. Yes, I know it's more complex than that, but I am just saying it's definitely workable. It would take something like an AVRCam or similar and not much main processing power. An Arduino might be enough with the on board intelligence of the camera.

It's just an idea.. :veryhappy::veryhappy:

Lol that's your playing field, far from mine. I wouldn't know where to begin, I just make these simple, direct control r/c things, and that's about as far as I will be taking it... for now anyway :) You guys with the skills and knowledge should make one, would be neat to see an autonomous one... with a full mini golf course!

Love the comments on Gizmodo.

The big question is: Who's your PR agent?

Here's BotJunkie - you missed it... http://www.botjunkie.com/2008/07/21/new-from-crab-fu-putter-bot/

Also when he shakes his head back and forth on the miss. And the little dance.

So much of this seems to be the loose nut on all these 'bots. The loose nut behind the transmitter. ;)

My PR agent? well my bots of course! They work for cheap (batteries or water) and most of them are pretty good at getting themselves out there.... I just sit back and watch them grow :)

Congratz man! Keep this up and hopefully someone is going to start paying you to make robots :POr do it yourself. You realize that you could sell thousands of those, don't you? Any catalog, store or website that had novelty gifts for golfers would carry it.

Put me down for one!!!
But how many putters will it come with? I would expect to throw one or two and break one or two on just the front nine!
Extremely cool stuff!!! Great ending:)
