Use it, find some old stuff you were into, cool old sites, and/or old tech that makes us laugh.

Here's my robotics projects from highschool.

This is a quadrapod that I build in woodshop when I was 14 (1998, I know, im still a youngin). I traced my Hexapod 2 PE onto graph paper, pasted that onto some sheet pvc and cut the entire thing out using a bandsaw and a belt sander.

I get bonus points for the awesome MSPaint "tech sketch".

And here is where I prove the Generalized Peter Principle true by upgrading the robot to the point of worthlessness. I got it to turn itself over, but it was too wobbly and unstable to actually walk anymore.

I also built one of these when I was 13: http://web.archive.org/web/20010611114841/www.lynxmotion.com/index.htm

That's right! Representin' the oldschool yellow PVC.

Now outdo me!

Unable to outdo...

I built this in 2001, but for some reason it doesn't show up in the google 2001... go figure.

Anyhow; it was my graduation thesis in high school (back here that's at age 17)

Also one of my beam bots : Here (http://users.telenet.be/svendecock/beam.JPG)

I'm actually amazed at how accurate you got your quad with the wood Tyb... great stuff!

It's made out of sheet PVC actually, I just used the band saw to make the rough cuts and the belt sander to get the flat/straight, smooth edges.

Sorry - when I was 13, we didn't have this fancysmancy InTarWeb Thingie.

Did you guys even have "electricity"?

I can link you to the wiki if you're unfamiliar.

I haven't seen him around much - probably the job-hunt thang?

Heh.. whippersnappers..

When I was 13 we didn't have dial phones here in So. Sphincter, and Dwight Eisenhower was president. Robots existed in the mind of Asimov.

Gary :veryhappy:

Just about blew up the house building rockets in the basement though.. until mom found out.

I'm still stunned at the broad range of audience hobby robotics draw.

I guess you could somewhat compare the range with that of RC models, but still... the learning curve for robotics seems higher than for RC.

Either way, I can only applaud it!

That's some cool stuff you made back then, back in my day we drove cars that ran on unleaded cole and carried around cordless payphones, kidding i'm pretty young too. The one I did back in high school didn't really compare to yours considering we used parts kinda like the NXT lego stuff, it rolled aorund and picked up stuff yup yup that's about it lol.
