Im working on a 4 leg crawler blue print. I have only seen one on the net, and it had a troso. It moved like a lizzard would on the ground( moved real slow). All others i have seen has 6 legs. So the question i have is What servos fits best for speed and quick responce time. Not looking for (ALOT OF POWER) alittle but more speed and quickness?? What type of fram would work for this bug??

Thanks,

Charlie was actually inspired by a combination of my crustcrawler hdats hexapod, and IC hexapod. PM me and I'll send you jpegs that you can print out as a template to cut out your own parts. Also, if I had it to do over again, which I sort of will at some point I'm sure, I would have added another degree of freedom for each foot. so that would make 4 degrees of freedom per leg...

Hmm...and I also might suggest adding a tail to help counterbalance the weight. Charlie has the tendency to be a bit tippy.

OK...enough.

Hi Bug,
Bheka is also a four legger.. I am using Hitec HSR-8498 servos in it. Some of the brackets are home made, others are from the original RN-1 configuration.

I would agree with Darkback on the tail. Quads to tend to tip. I started out with waist movement, but removed it since it didn't seem to help much.

Good Luck

OK...I've attached a zip file with both pictures of charlie, and PDF files that are templates for all of the parts that I've made...with the exception of the hump, and the feet. I sort of improvised those. I'll try to put together a tutorial on how to make a charlie...
