Hi there,

I'm a member of the Homebrew Robotics Club in Silicon Valley and a big fan of the Trossen store. Lately I have seen a lot of activity at the club around the TI BeagleBoard as a robot controller, and most seem to use a variety of Trossen parts, including some Phidgets and a lot of Lynxmotion SES pieces.

Is there anyone on this board either building or thinking about building a BeagleBoard robot?

Funny you mention this. I just came across this board the other day and was wondering if anyone was using one in a project.

I'm aware of a few projects using the BeagleBoard as a controller:

1) Snappy the Humanoid Balancer featured at the beginning of this clip:

This robot was built entirely from parts purchased at Trossen Robotics.

2) Ralph's Teleoperated Roomba featured at 5:30 in the same clip.

3) Tony's RoboMagellon entry featured at 6:30 in this clip:

There were 3 other BeagleBoard projects underway at that meeting. At least one is using Servo Erector Set. Dave Curtis is looking at creating a cheap robot interface board especially for the BeagleBoard expansion header.

Also, Dale Wheat from the Dallas Personal Robots Group has mounted a BeagleBoard atop the Pololu 3pi platform and is using that as a mobile research robot.

Charles University is building an autonomous BeagleBoard platform for Eurobot.

I'm sure there are a few others out there. Anybody else working on this? The BeagleBoard makes a very powerful Linux server for $149.
