I have an Acer Aspire One netbook and the thing is friggen awesome.

These netbooks are like a dream come true for PC based robotics, their price is outstanding and they are tiny, perfect for most medium-large mobile robotics bases.

For some reason it's listed as $329 on their web site but I was just looking at one in the store the day before yesterday and almost bought it for $199.

Yeah, you can find the 2G Surf all day long for $230... Depends a lot on the model. The 900 for $320 without looking hard.

I am so thinking those little PCs are the way to go for the kind of stuff I want to do. The less I have to learn the better as I know so little 'bout the bots.

Read the reviews. Something about there not being enough SSD to start with but it is replaceble.

Actually - I didn't check to see if that model has an express slot or not. Gotta run to the store before it closes so I can eat today... ;)

I found that netbooks where a large trend at CES 2009 (although I did not attend).

Where do you think "small computers" (sub 9 inch) will go? More power, foldable, projection screens? Will they replace laptops and desktops (like how laptops can now replace desktops for word editing, internet, light gaming, etc), stay for "on the go" use, or is the market not here yet?
