What about a CMU Cam for tracking/targeting and bluetooth for relaying video to the pilot?:D

Bluetooth is waaaay low bandwidth. Video would really bite and real time video would be neigh impossible. I'm sure Adrenalynn will wander by and elaborate. She is the local video guru (amongst other things).

The problem with the CMUCam or AVRCam is that the processor (an 8 bit micro) is so overloaded already, and 115k serial is so slow, that it can only manage to send one line per frame over serial, thus it needs to take ~76 frames to send a single picture... do this out, its less than 1/2Hz (compare to regular 30Hz video). And even then you'd get like 112x76... thats really small. Its enough to do some basic color blob tracking, but dont try to navigate by viewing that video yourself...

The CMU camera is waaay too low fidelity to be of any use at all. Resolution, color space, frame rate, etc. Not appropriate for this venue. Bluetooth = even worse, as Jes noted. ;)

Good thinking, but not of any use for telepresense. Great for other things, though.

[edit] Should have refreshed the thread. I was busy upstairs and didn't see Fergs' reply....
