It has a dual-axis gyro ( IDG-600. ) It is not too large and hopefully it'll be easy to interface with.

here's what i don't get.
how does one control a robot with a wiimote.
i understand with the d pad and all, but what can you do with the motion sensor?

I saw a wicked cool Wiimote controlled car using .NET at Maker Faire back in 07. It's on Coding4Fun:


The control is very similar to the way you control a car in MarioCart. Think of the car moving, only with legs and arms and you can start to imagine the wicked cool stuff you can do with the Wiimote and robots:D

I have no desire to control a robot with the wiimote. I just want the access to cheap dual axis gyros to use for IMU's.

I was running a traxster with a WiiMote last year.

It's no different than any other joystick - the accelerometers read and translate motion just like a joystick, Pitch/Yaw/Roll
