Hello!

I have a couple GP2Y0D340K IR Range finder modules that I would like to use with my Atmega 168. The sensor has five pins to connect to the board with and, althought I have been looking at the datasheet for a long time, I can't figure out how to connect it to get and A/D or just plain digital.

Here is the datasheet : http://www.robotshop.ca/PDF/gp2y0d340k-manual.pdf

I'm trying to learn new things in electronics (which is by FAR my weak point), any help you could give me would be very nice. I don't know what I would do without this place.

Thanks,

Sam

It's a digital sensor - Vo is your digital output. VCC = 5V, 3 GND connections, looks like you need a 1Ohm resistor between pin 2 and ground to turn on the LED, and a 1uF capacitor between pin 5 and ground (all of this is in the diagram at the bottom of the box labeled OUTLINE DIMENSIONS -- all fairly standard schematic symbols, if it is throwing you off, I'd suggest reading up on schematics and the symbols on them, before you toast something)
