<Cronk voice> Uh, how 'bout a, uh, laser rifle? Those things are so cool!

---Actually, the ability to walk AND jump would be really cool.:D

um, Invisibility

Wouldn't "invincibility" be better than "invisibility"?

If I unplug my target sensors, it doesn't matter if you can see me or not... ;)

True, but, it would be easier to win if your opponent didn't run away from you. ;)

Eventually he has to get close enough to shoot. Unless the ammo is invisible, that presents a target of opportunity. :)

Interesting hypothetical. What's to prevent an 'accidental' temporary disconnect of power to the boards or AVRR itself? Besides loss of honor. ;)

Walking is a good one but a stable platform to help with aimming works for me.
But the best would be an australian law maker that just walks up and bans
whatever ya got. (sorry for the bitch about laws again)

Rail gun. Only if the mech could hold the weight. And the battery could power the weapon till end of the match. And no one got hurt by the weapon.

:p

Yeah, that won't hurt anyone ;)

AND your bot will be able to hold it... if it's a bloc of cement.

I'm still looking into the pros and cons of the different weapon choices, But what I really want to do is break the mold and find options that no one is using yet. I would like to be unique.

How about a coilgun?

DresnerRobotics

Given that the objective is to score hits, not cause damage, using a weapon easily and efficiently mounted on a... robot that can walk and be remotely piloted... it's hard to justify more extreme weapons when the tank guns or even the full automatic $20 airsoft toy guns are so cheap, compact, and lightweight.

Speeking of tank guns...

I think I heard that they weight in at about 85 grams? Are there guns that are lighter (the lightest?) ?

Adrenalynn

That's about as light as they get and still fire.

Thanks!

I just ordered some Tank Guns at $20 each... Not a bad deal, considering how COOL they instantly make any robot, I think I'll even mount a couple on MARC just because .
