I know that nerf-style weapons are allowed in the airsoft class, but is anyone actually going to use them?:p

We haven't seen anyone use them yet. Problem being, the launcher is gonna weigh quite a bit, and the chance of actually hitting a scoring plate with a Nerf rocket is like hitting the lottery....

Maybe we should consider bonus lottery points or double damage for hitting with a Nerf weapon. You know, just a thought.;)

If you show up with a mech equipped with a Nerf rocket system, we'll talk.

I was hoping to (even just for show/exhibition matches), but that would involve getting a design going ;)

What is a nerf-style weapon if I may ask?

Like this http://www.hasbro.com/nerf/n-strike/
basically foam darts.

Ahh I see, thanks for the update bigderhak. I can imagine getting em small enough to be hard to use for mechwars.

Just throwing this out there. You still would need to attach a solenoid or some sort of electrically operated valve and a barrel and magazine loading system. And you'd probably get a little more oomph by sleeving the inside of the dart to reduce the internal volume. ;)

I found the Ultraflate at Dick's Sporting Goods @ $17.99 w/ one 12gram cartridge. It takes threaded or unthreaded cartridges.

I also thought about making my own reservoir tank out of PVC pipe and tapping a standard Shrader valve to fill it with good 'ole free air.

Disqualified outside of hardcore - that C02 cartridge does it in. Nice video though! :)
