As always I am the last to figure simple things out. I see that Robogames has switched venues. Here is the info off the website just in case someone else is behind the times.
I guess we won't be enjoying the bay views this year. But it looks like the fairgrounds were able to commit to the dates better than the Fort Mason ... no tentative in the dates this year:)

It's really early this year. I was planing on going in my summer break but now it's just in exam season.

Hope flight prices drop...

I might not be back in time to go. May still be deployed at that time. :(

Hi Dave,

Thanks for posting that!

From the second PDF, it appears to me that M-W is in a 10' x 10' space. I'm not sure how that works - are we reducing the playing field to about 4' x 4' this year?

Thanks!

The 10x10 is the playing field, it's not 4x4. I just haven't added any tables, etc. yet.

As always, these mock-ups change constantly. I moved all the stuff from last year to this years floorplan, and in the case of MW, that's all that was on the floorplan, since I didn't really know what Andrew was going to do. So I've just got to add the tables, etc. as needed, based on photos from last year.

This is also true of marathon, BEAM, and other things, FWIW

Dave, just a note, the arena was 15x15 last year, which is about the minimum I think, otherwise either A) hallways get too skinny to navigate down, or B) there just wouldn't hardly any buildings/cover to encourage any strategy other than "walk up and do a gentleman's duel".

I think there is enough surrounding area that we'll be fine. Besides, Dave knows I'll cry like a little girl until I get my way if we don't have enough space. :D Dave loves that sort of stuff onsite too.

At 10x10 decent lighting may be possible! Depends on available power I guess...maybe we will see our first fully autonomous robot compete.

Does anyone know how many people have signed up so far for 2010?

Can anyone tell me if the mesh walls wth the camoflage sides will be the same or similar material for the new venue?

The arena will be 15x15, 10x10 just isn't large enough to do anything with. Especially when you get bots like Giger or Squidword that stand close to 2 feet tall, it would just look ridiculous.

I believe the arena that darkback has sewn up is a mostly uniform white+mesh design. http://forums.trossenrobotics.com/showpost.php?p=33618&postcount=205

Since the venue/date was just announced, I doubt anyone is signed up, there are at least half a dozen bots that will certainly be there, probably another 12-15 people who've said they are building a bot. Of course, until you actually get there, we don't know for sure.

Actually...its off white (cream) canvas for the bottom...the corners are black lycra (to give it a bit of stretch, and the window layer a few feet up from the ground is the white mesh...I didn't want to make the whole thing out of the netting because the stuff is really delicate...I'm actually a bit worried about it ripping as is because holes will be really hard to patch. There is a flap door that hangs down...I think I put in zippers...atleast one. I'll try to find links to the fabric that I used...

Hope this helps.
