Hello everybody,
My friends and I have been working on Vulcan 5, a fire fighting robot, and I thought I would post here and let everyone see our progress. We are eventually going to be taking it to the trinity college home robot fire fighting competition. A few weeks ago fergy started talking about going to the Canadian national robot games, and we were like that sounds like a good idea. Then we were like oh yeah we should take a robot. Oh yeah did I mention that we just started working on it? So all of the stuff that we were going to do over the last couple of months we now have to finish in 5 or so days. Fun stuff.

Anyway here a few stats on V5

controller: Arbotix
body: lexan, and aluminum
motors: 2x lynxmotion 7.2v gear motors with encoder shafts
wheels: 2-7/8" x .8" with hex hubs
battery: 7.2 volt Nimh tenergy
sensors: 3x sharp IR range sensors, UVtron, photoreflective sensor
fan: there is a fan on this robot. Not.. there will be

Physical robot- 94% complete
Code- code? you have to be kidding this thing does need any code, it drives around because it is that cool. JK there is a little code written.

Here is a little video of it running around.


I am not using any sensors in this one, just testing the motors. Earlier today we had it running around in the maze with three ir sensors and it was crazy fast. We had to back it down a little.
