Hi guys,

I've just posted assembly instructions on the DIY section:

http://forums.trossenrobotics.com/tutorials/how-to-diy-128/hack-your-servo-v100-turn-your-servo-into-a-powerful-linear-actuator-3293/

Have a look!

Let me know what you think :D

First off...Sweet idea on hacking the servo!

Second off...Your rover in your youtube video is SUPER SWEET!!!!! Wow...that thing is awesome!

Some small delicate work there. I've looked at using threaded rods for making larger linear actuators, with the idea of being able to connect a continous rotation servo (or cordless drill/screwdriver motor) to the end of it. Rollerskate wheel bearings to be used as support/thrust bearings.

Very cool idea for a linear actuator. Btw, love that rover of yours.

Thank you guys! i am trying bit-by-bit to release a scaled styrene model of the rover with DIY instructions

the actuator could be improved speedwise by using a larger pitch thread - but you may need a small lathe there :) doubling the pitch would halve the lifting capacity.Nonetheless I thought the M4 would demonstrate the concept in a neat way.
