View Full Version : Sabretooth 2x25 and wheelchair motors

I'm planning on some Dalek renovation this year, and one of the things on my list is to replace the existing scooter base with some electric wheelchair motors.

The specs indicate that I need to be able to run my motors at about 15amps under normal load - has anyone used a sabertooth 2x25 with wheelchair motors?

If so, what where your results...?

I have a 2x25 that was shutting itself down with 18A/channel. I added additional cooling (fan) and beefed-up the heat sink. It seemed to be stable, but it annoyed me, so I yoinked it out and tossed a 2.5 x 80 Robot Power Solutions controller in there. Much happier. ;)

The sabretooth was truly excellent motor controller. Now,I am developing a similar setup with wheelchair motors, Sabertooth 2x25, but plan to use Ravens for the wireless link. I just started writing code today.

Hi Zijay and Adrenalyn,

What mode of operation did you use for the sabertooth 2x25?

I just recently ordered one and I have no idea what best mode to use: PPM,PWM, serial, packetized serial mode. I'm stuck..

My application:
Tank style control of 2pcs 24 volt scooter motors to be controlled by my arduino

Hope for your support,
