Hey everyone, I've got a project I want to do and I need some help. I have a basic understanding of electronics and robotics, and this seems to be something a little outside my range. I want to make an electric jewelry box for a friend of mine. Her birthday is in October, so I have plenty of time, but I'd like to go ahead and get started because it may take a while. What I want is an automated box that opens by itself when the lock is released. That's not too big of a problem because I'm pretty good at mechanical design, the lid is going to be a problem for me.

I got a Phidgets touch sensor switch to open the box http://www.trossenrobotics.com/p/phidgets-touch-sensor.aspx But what I want is for when the sensor is triggered, not only does the box lock release, but a LED light activates illuminating a design cut out on the lid, and an electric music player plays a song. I need it all wired to an easy to come across power source like regular batteries. Setting it up in the lid won't be a problem, but I'm just not sure how to wire it. Any ideas?

Also, anyone know where I can get a music player that would play just one 4minute-ish song that I can put on it from a computer and wire it to the circuit? Right now the only thing I have to use is a twenty second recorder from Radioshack.

You might try this http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=9715
but you would still need a small amplifier and speaker
This one has a built in amp 0.5W http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=9534

Have fun

That's exactly what I'm looking for! Thanks.
