Hi All, this is the first time I have joined this competition. I have been working on this project for a few months now. It first came about from playing paintball for a few years and a friend giving me his Predator helmet. I have then set to work and have so far come up with this awesome project. Here's the features, planned and some have been completed so far. You ware this project. You will look like a real predator with the ability to choose multiple targets and hit them with paintballs.
The stats ..... 3D Video glasses are in the helmet, camera is also mounted in the helmet, as is a controller, headphones, microphone & tri lasers. The backpack system has an onboard eeePC, USB controller board, USB video capture card, VGA video output card, USB hub, 12V battery, 12V - 9V power convertors, Servo controller board, Paintball airtank and regulator, warp feeder (paintball delivery system), a 200 paintball loader, 2 servos, a controller and a converted SP8 paintball marker with a PC controlled Apex barrel system, all mounted on some motor X body armour. Final step will be the vacuum forming of the outer armour!

Now comes the what can it do stage !...... well when completed, you will be able to wear this system, upon putting the helmet on, you will see everything in thermal imaging(using a filter, thermal cameras are too expensive!), the on board PC will overlay information, regarding the power level, number of balls, target information, target distance, firing status and all in predator fonts and graphics. The Tri lasers are used for range finding purposes, the helmet and plasma cannon work from centre to 90 degrees left, I figured out that I needed a fixed point in space to get a reference point for both units, lucky for magnetic north!, this allows you to gain a 3D reference point on mutiple targets. You find a target, range it, if it happens to be hiding behind a tree or other object, and you are in range, you can hit it! ... by the PC controlling the Apex barrel system, it can shoot paintballs around objects, or bring them down on targets hiding in bunkers! This happens by the apex having a rubber tongue which puts a back spin on the ball!. The firing mech is on your fingers, you wear a glove and using finger combo's allows you to change the rate of fire and when to fire!
Everything is programmed in VB6 and this has become one big labour of love, but does show you what you can do when you put your mind to it!!! Make sure you use a solid state drive in that laptop! Great project, can't wait to see more!

Sure did, the PC has SSHDD as well as SDRAM, running XP .... controllers on both units Phidget 1056, as well as a phidget servo controller .... great hardware!
