View Full Version : [Question(s)] Source of Small Electric Vacuum Pump?

I am in need of a small DC electric vacuum pump for a project I'm currently working on but I'm having a hard time finding anything suitable. I've found several sources of mid-size and large pumps but I'm only interested in something that is capable of holding a part that weighs just a few ounces. I'd like to find something as small as possible to keep overall power consumption low.

Also, the part I'm trying to hold is slightly porous and thus will not fully seal so I cannot use a plunger or piston to create a static vacuum. Instead I need the ability to continuously draw a vacuum at the suction cup.

Does anyone know where I can find a pump that will meet my needs?

The smallest vacuums I've seen are the keyboard vacuums. Next up are probably the dustbusters.

You may want to take a look at fish tank bubblers. I don't know how well they'll do for suction, but they are small and pump continuously.
