This is my first year ever doing anything robotics related. My group needs a gun for the mech robot we are building and we need a gun. I have been looking for one but with no luck. Please help me find a gun that works and fits in regulations.

Here's a recently updated thread (http://forums.trossenrobotics.com/showthread.php?t=4627) that may be of interest to you, amongst others. Have you used the search function to look for the info?

Gentle on the new guy. I'm actually unsure about how best to choose a gun as well and would welcome more discussion on the topic. Saying that.. ahaupt. You should probably add more information about your specific bot.

Gentle on the new guy...

Did that come across as an admonishment? ^.o Certainly didn't intend it to be construed as such.

I guess I'm just sensitive about such things having to regularly visit Apple forums for iphone development. haha.

We are building a quad, as small as we can get it. We still have not even found a camera to be quite honest; so if you have any help on what is a good one and what criteria to look for, that would be most helpful. We plan to position the gun directly beside the camera so they can both move together. I have searched everywhere for both of these but with no luck. Between work, school, robotics club, and everything else, it gets very frustrating to try to find anything online. Hence why we are here right now.

I would suggest, searching this forum for what you need then. It is a great site for info. You do have to look for it though. mech-warfare.com (http://mech-warfare.com/) has all of the rules and guidelines. Questions about guns and cameras can all be found by just searching the threads. They have all been talked about many times over.

These are just two of the threads where you can find the information talked about. But there are still plenty of others that will help to answer your questions. Look through them, search more threads, then ask more specific questions if you have them, and the experts here will be able to give tons of advice then. Use the forum for all its worth. I honestly started out with some of the same questions, but just read posts on here for more then a month before I opened an account and said something.

This is actually what I am talking about. The airsoft search link you posted actually is not all that useful when you know nothing about airsoft. That thread only talks about two. A defender and a tank gun. Are those the only viable choices? What are those? It's not as straight forward as it might appear.

Now the camera? That's another matter. haha.
