@gdubb2: I thought the same thing when I first read this thread, but the link he supplied is to a company that suffered a fire at their warehouse in 2006 and still hasn't started production again. Looks like the company is bust for all intents and purposes :(

@alex77: In terms of the platform, could you be a little more specific about what you're looking for? Just a balancing robot? Or, something more along the lines of a two wheel development platform? If you could tell us what your planning to do with it we might be able to help you more

I don't know of any kits or pre-built balancing robots off hand (unless you count a Segway as a kind of robot), but this isn't an uncommon project. If you're interested in building one from scratch, here are a few good examples:

A nice tutorial for a simple balancing robot: http://www.societyofrobots.com/member_tutorials/node/185

(http://www.arduino.cc/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1284738418)A video tutorial on another balancing bot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-afnY32RrY

A nice implementation of PID on a balancing robot: http://www.youtube.com/user/meusastrum#p/a/u/0/bxx14Xe2iNg

Finally a great resource on PID control (called "PID Without a PhD"):http://www.eetimes.com/ContentEETimes/Documents/Embedded.com/2000/f-wescot.pdf

Let us know if you have any questions~ this forum is a great resource

Not off hand- I don't have the time, but someone might be willing to do it for you. Otherwise, A quick google search pulled up this company that builds custom robots:

I doubt you will be able to find someone to make something like this for you on any kind of affordable scale from a hobby robotics standpoint. One offs are expensive...

On the other hand you could probably make something yourself with a bit of research. There are a few lego NXT balancing robots out there...A quick google search turned up a bunch of youtube videos. Honestly I bet you could learn a lot along the way.

Best of luck!
