I’m looking for ideas to mount wheels via hubs to these surplus mirrored left/right 12vdc motors. They have approximately .5” shafts. Targeting perhaps a 5" wheel.

The BaneBots hubs and wheels here at Trossen look promising http://www.trossenrobotics.com/c/robot-wheel-hubs-castors.aspx however I envision perhaps a bit more substantial tire such as those in the Parallax Motor Mount and Wheel Kit with Position Controller http://www.trossenrobotics.com/store/p/5761-Motor-Mount-Wheel-Kit-with-Position-Controller.aspx

These http://www.pololu.com/catalog/product/1203 look promising, but perhaps not large enough.

Any suggestion for suppliers, ideas, inventive mounting or ???

I have a short post on my blog about them. Comment here and/or there. I'll sumarize. http://www.rodaw.com/nerding/12vdc-motors-matched-set-possible-robot-drive/

Pictured with the motors are some hobby hubs I found. They are a bit small, I might be able to turn down the shaft... Definatley trying to avoid that. Wheels/tires I've found for these hobby hubs are not as substantial as I would like. Apparently not designed to bear much weight.
