I've been spending the last year developing a human scale home robot that I plan to release to developers next year. It's a straight forward but capable design. I actually used the Dynamixel servos in the Bioloid kit and repurposed them into 2 robot arms with 6 DOF each. Arms and monitor can also adjust in height vertically. The drive wheels are driven by stepper motors. Low level processor is an Arduino Mega. I entered it into an Instructables contest sponsored by Jack Daniel's.

Future improvement are to add an Arduino Mega ADK board with firmware for control by an Android tablet or phone. Hope you like it. Here's a link to a 1 minute video on Instructables:

Looks great! How've you been going on the software side of things so far?

Thanks. Hi level software is lagging while I focus on finishing the last PCB that acts as a shield between the Arduino Mega and stepper controller boards. My focus will really be on supplying an accessible and capable robot platform to "software" folks for app development. I would love for someone to help integrate an Android tablet into the bot with a Skype interface like this robot below. I could handle the hardware and firmware end but need high level coders for the app end:
