I just wanted to make a quick plug for a new Kickstarter project that I just launched:

The project is centered around the iThing1, a really cool microcontroller that I think will be of interest to this group. It features a bunch of I/O, including a built-in Dynamixel AX/MX servo interface and WiFi networking. Oh, and it talks too.

Check it out!

A computer that loses at Tic-Tac-Toe? That's funny :-)

Seriously, though, the finish on that game board and setup looks great!

I think you can make the arms move more smoothly by reducing the goal speed of the movement. Movement shouldn't have to be so stepwise. Or just send the commands more often and make the commands move the arms faster so they don't start/stop all the time.

Yes, the Tic-Tac-Toe algorithm is quite dumb, with only the most basic of offensive and defensive strategies. But that was done on purpose so that you could actually see a player win. Purely for entertainment value.

The game board was pretty easy to make. I just had some pieces of acrylic laser cut by Pololu. The base board is a cutting board from Target.

This robot stuff is all new to me, so I kept the movement algorithms pretty basic. I just broke each movement sequence into a series of four different sets of joint positions. I'm certain that there are much better ways to do it that the way that I did. Still, not too bad for a first try.
