Has anyone tried to disconnect the original charging circuitry in irobot and succeeded to power on the irobot with a lipo battery??

I think it's 14v so I suppose a 4cell lipo would work. Though as you stated do NOT try and charge it with the internal charger. I suppose the next question is why do you want to switch? Weight?

I plugged the thread title into Google & the fourth one on the list was;

I can't view youtube clips at this computer, but i'm guessing they have done it successfully.
As Kevin0 suggests above, the charging could be an issue. Good luck though! :)

@Kevin0, I need to increase its running time,because the OEM rechargable NIMH has a running time of only 1.5 hour and also lipo has a better perfomance.
Can you recommend me a name for lipo battery with good life time , low weight and size?

http://thunderpowerrc.com/ Is what I use for all my projects. Look through the data sheets and find a 4 cell that has measurments that fit in the compartment the original batterys used to sit in.

I use tigers lipo batteries for rc choppers. They come in different sizes, voltage etc. Make sure you use a balanced charger if your using multiple cells.
