If you have not tried out the Crazyflie nano quadrotor, you really need to go get one. For $170, it is hard to find such an cool toy. Anyway the idea of the project is to have 'bat fights' (instead of dog fights...) with either sonar or IR. The payload is measly, so it will dictact what ends up working. The thought is to have a transmitter in front and receiver in back and you have to score by spending time 'hitting' your opponent from the rear. Anyway, this is a really cool open source platform you need to check out anyway. More info here

Have you found an ultrasonic or IR sensor that will work on the Crazyflie? A lot of the ones I'm seeing look like they would be too big/heavy.
