I'm considering getting the bioloid kit but I hate the look of the white plastic brackets. Does anybody have recommendations on where to get metal brackets for the dynamixels (Ax-12)?

Trossen sells bioloid brackets dyed black. Those look pretty nice.
If you're set on metal, you would need to either make them yourself or get them made for you. I don't think anyone sells metal AX series brackets.

Are those new? Or have I just never realized they existed?

Been around for a long time.

Weird. I remember looking for some about a year and a half ago, I guess I must have decided they weren't worth the extra $ and forgotten about 'em.

i am also considering metal brackets, for easier sensor mounting, and wire routing. but, i can't figure out how thick the brackets are. the site says ''ga 063''
what would this equal to in the metric system?
i have come to the understanding that 063 ga steel is not the same as 063 ga aluminium?
this is the ones i am talking about: http://www.crustcrawler.com/motors/AX12/brackets.php?prod=68

Pretty sure they mean 0.063" and 0.090" aluminium since those are extremely common thicknesses and I don't recall aluminium 'gauge' measurements going that small.

Yeah, 063 probably means 63 mil, which is 63/1000*25.4 millimeters, which works out to 1.6 millimeters.
090 probably means 90 mil, which is 90/1000*25.4 millimeters, which works out to just under 2.3 millimeters.
Confusing mil, millimeters, and microns, is way too common for me :-(
