View Full Version : Which ROS release for dynamixel support?

Hello, I want to do some motion analysis/planning stuff with dynamixel servos, ros and gazebo.

I'm fairly new to this stuff, what ros distribution will make my life easiest?

Quite a bit is well tested with Indigo. That's not to say you won't get along fine with Kinetic also but if you start seeking info about past projects you'll likely find a lot more in Indigo and earlier.

Seems like this post has been here for a while, but for what it's worth I moved from Indigo to Jade, then Kinetic, and other than some minor chenges needed to Xacro (http://wiki.ros.org/xacro) files, the transition was fine.
I guess it depends on what packages you use, but I would agree and say go with Kinetic as a starter, or look into Indigo if there is something specific you need that is tried-and-tested (Jade (http://wiki.ros.org/Distributions#List_of_Distributions), which is in between the two, is not supported for much longer).
