In another thread it was discussed that a particular robot's control board only had 3 inputs. How does this compare with other robots on the market? Can this be modified with a daughter card or something similiar? Does it really matter in making the robot autonomous?

The RCB-3 controller, which has only 3 analog inputs, is used in the Manoi AT01, PF01, and the Kondo KHR-2HV. As far as I know, there is no way to expand this.

The controller used in the Robonova has 8 analog inputs. This is the most out of the humanoids that we carry.

The Bioloid, on the other hand, has no built-in analog inputs. However, since all of the Bioloid components communicate with the main processor via serial communication, it would be possible to construct an analog input daughter board.

As for whether or not this matters in making the robot autonomous, it really depends. Autonomy is a pretty subjective term when it comes to robotics. Also, all the sensors in the world won't make your robot autonomous if you're no good at programming. Lots of factors at play.
