That is a great looking 'bot! I'm envious of the quick production time that the 3D printer has given you. Thank you for sharing your project with us.

Did you specifically choose not to instrument the feet with sensors (e.g. strain gauges or even just a simple contact sensor)?

Yeah, this version of the feet is simply for the flat-floor walking contest we're running this weekend.

Over the next few months, I'm going to design and build new feet that have multiple pressure sensors per foot, with full terrain compliance and linear leg compliance as well.

I have big plans for this robot. See my MicroRaptor wiki page for some of the stuff I'm going to be working on. Specifically, see the AI/Sensing/Navigation/Goals pages for where I'm going to start. The AI-level stuff will be running offboard on a PC, and the motion control will all be on the robot, running on an ARM7.

Months have gone by. I got swamped with work. Somehow I'm inspired to be a good teacher this year. I also decided to run a marathon...which is at the end of this month.

So...finally back to squidword.

Video was an issue for me. Squidword shook his camera to death...he actually shook two camera's to death and got to robogames on camera 3 which he shook to death before the first round...so I've made a few changes.

First I rewrote mechmover from the ground up. I increased the resolution from 128 (midi) steps for each servo to 751. The increase in resolution has made the gates a lot smoother. I also added a lean function.

He is going on a diet of sorts. In the least I will be using a xbee bridge to communicate with the SSC-32 and loosing the PC on his back for the most part, and at most I'll be adding a phidget SBC if I can get the funds together. The priority for me is making robogames 2010...

The video performance over wifi was sketchy at best...so I'm going to try dynamically changing the resolution. I can drop it as low as 32*24 and still get around OK...and then bump it up to 640 *480 for aiming and shooting. I am putting a control for this on the Control PC...(which is a Mac.) I'm also thinking of automating him to various degrees...not sure about that part.

So for now the shopping list is:

2 HS 5990 TGs
2 IR sensors
4 pressure sensors
1 xbee communication kit
1 Phidget SBC

Crazy part...I got an emotiv EPOC...its a headset you can use to read EEGs and control computer apps. I'm gonna try to use it to control squidword...though I'll mostly be relying on the keyboard or a gamepad.

Finally...I got the rockets working...not sure its worth it though.

Yes that is how it works in a nut shell. I’m only using 6 contact (microswitch) sensors on the tars. ‘Balance mode’ keeps track of the average leg height and angle and translate it to the body angle and position. This is going a closed loop setup to keep the body at the same height even when it walks in a hole.

I’m currently upgrading the body angle calculations to make it more precise. This will solve the shaky body shown in the video.

I hope this answered your 2 uuhh… 3 questions ;)

I just can’t say this enough; the remote is awesome! It gives the precision of a stock RC flight remote but also allows me to send digital signals to switch gaits and modes. It’s open source and runs on a BAP28. So the remote is getting better and better every week ;)

Perhaps I missed something or I'm just not sure what you guys mean. I believe that if you read my post you will find that I am using an arduino and a motor shield "a slightly more expensive H-bridge" for closed-loop control. Its not stacking a few pic's together on a breadboard cost wise but at around $60 total for a professional board that will have less possible problems I think its a good deal.

Hi i am beginner with RFID technology.I am doing project with above name..I am using DT135MIFR rfid reader(serially connected to PC) and philips Mifare 1K or 4K smart card to read and write details of patient into it.

I am thinking of implementing the application using C#.NET.

My doubts are:

how to send RFID commands through serially in C# and the commands should be in string or other format(like Hex).

Is it compulsory to interface Rfid reader with Microcontroller? I mean can we send commands directly to reader and based on commands, R/W operations can be done on smart card.

tell me some basic steps to send commands throug UART and connection to reader to UART.

Any kind of info will be helpful..
Thanking you..

I'm thinking they will be like shallow arches (points down) that wil help resist tipping by being nominally oriented perpendicular to an imaginary line between opposite feet.

Glad to see there is some interest in neural nets! Since people have been working on these things since the 1940s, there is literally a ton of material on the web. Perhaps a good place to start for an overview would be Wikipedia. Another good site that has explanations of various learning algorithms is http://www.learnartificialneuralnetworks.com/. And of course, you can just Google "artificial neural networks" and you'll never run out of links.

There are also some really nice machine learning libraries out there. I like Aforge.NET (C#) and EmguCV (C#, VB.NET, VC++). EmguCV is based on OpenCV (C++). Both packages have machine learning routines as well as piles of visual processing filters.
