Hey Tician, thanks.
To help you along with that peg-board. Here is some background information. I have several stainless steel desks which come from a kitchen manufacturer (cheapest I could find)....
Thank you Zenta. :o
Everything except for two parts is printed in ABS. People kept telling me I was crazy and I definitely had some frustrating moments along the way. But it panned out. My...

Thanks Adam.
I pretty much finished printing all the parts, but I ran out of M2 bolts during assembly. They should arrive any day now. Once I have that, it will be standing up on it's own. No...
Since the end of the Tachikoma project I am running with Fusion 360. It's a new piece of software from Autodesk. The reason it is called Fusion is because it allows for both shape like parametric...
Thank you!
I sure hope so, something would be very wrong indeed! 3D printing has a tolerance of about -/+ 0.15 mm in the X and Y directions so that is something to keep in mind when...
Very true. Then again this was not the first setback I ran into. I like to think I got pretty far, learned a ton and enjoyed myself. Given that this is a hobby project, first most it needs to...
Hey everyone, figured I should finally share this project with you all. It has been in development on and off for about 1,5 year now. I got the idea while working on my previous project, the...
Long overdue update. The Tachikoma project has been retired about 1,5 year ago. In the end I ran in to a design flaw which would have taken me about 50+ hours to fix and redo. I did not feel I would...
Hi guys,
Ran in to this one on IndieGogo: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/father-io-first-real-life-massive-multiplayer-fps--2/x/6546965#/

Last year (2014) I set up Octoprint with my printer, back then Astroprint was still a kickstarter and the cloud features were not clearly priced (they seem to be free now). Since then Octoprint has...

Man, I love this thread! Really cool approach and the answers are all on the mark.
Since this thread is from a year ago, I figured it may be pointless to answer them also, but what I would like to...
If I were you, I would take a very good look at self built open source delta 3D printer robots and their firmware, just replace the nozzle with a pen.
Some examples projects to help you in the...
Aside from the 3D printer (I own a SpiderBot, great for medium/large ABS prints), keep a keen eye on:
- Proper designing of parts (design with the manufacturing process in mind, printing, milling...
Thanks for that, it gave me the confidence to apply a little bit more force. Lo and behold it came loose with a bit of wiggling.
Thats very nice of you to offer, but I got mine directly from...
Ok... this must be the silliest thing ever. :o I have two XL-320 and the OpenCM board, after testing one to be working, in my enthusiasm I daisy chained another to it but then but I discovered that...
Interesting and a nice beginner project!
- "power supply" sounds like a lab power supply, these are usually not cheap so maybe you want to start with batteries?
- I don't see electric cable on...
About 15 hours of printing later... all 4 legs now have a socket. Three of the sockets are iteration 2, one is already at iteration 3. Some things I changed in between:
- The servo horn 3D file I...
Would like to help, do you have a 3D design, or something with dimensions jwatte?
Small update (as requested, Freyzor ). I have been side tracked a bit lately, redecorating my study/hobby room.
Currently designing the main body part that holds all the legs together with...
Very nice, thank you for sharing! :veryhappy: My Bioloid premium is called Bob, my girlfriend came up with that...
Now that is slick! It reminds me of the Pokémon called Umbreon.

This guy was very creative when it came to 'shelling' up his (rather large) Tachikoma inspired robot. Using existing plastic shapes and spray paint.

What kind of 'look' are you going for? Have you considered vaccuum forming or fiberglass 'shells' as a exterior. Using metal, it can add quite a bit of weight.
How big is it, it's kind of heard to get an idea for the size. It has a nice weathered factory look, did you tweak the picture lighting?
It reminds me of the uArm:

I applaud you, well done and for such a noble cause. :o
Keep in mind that 3D design and 3D design for hobby 3D printing are two different things. I had about 1-2 years of CAD experience (Inventor and Solidworks) and then I took this course:...
