    Question(s) Re: Using Dynamixel AX-12 A

    After the servos fail, can you move them by manually moving the arm? Does the red LED blink?
    It's quite possible the servos detect overheating and shut down.
    You should be able to read back the...

    Using a bigger controller is not a problem in itself -- it just gives you more margin for error. The only reason to use a smaller controller is if space or dollars are a constraint. FWIW, I've...

    Question(s) Re: Using Dynamixel AX-12 A

    Yes, you need to configure their ID so they match the ID of the current servos in the arm.

    Btw: You should be able to use Dynamixel Wizard and hook up just one servo at a time. Scan the bus to...

    Re: 2 USB Connections on Teensy 3.5 or LC

    Yeah, just add one of those cheap Chinese USB serial dongles, and wire it to one of the serial ports on the Teensy.

    Question(s) Re: Walking Sequence for MK-III Hexapod?

    Ah! The button testing doesn't return values "greater than five" like the stick does.
    Instead, you should test for "is not zero" because the buttons field is a bit mask:

    if ((command.buttons &...

    Question(s) Re: Walking Sequence for MK-III Hexapod?

    If it's OK to use existing software, how about downloading the code for the Phantom Hex?

  15. Question(s) Re: New Member - Interested in retrofitting an industrial robot for hobby

  17. Question(s) Re: Absolute zero position for Dynamixel XM430-W350-R: How to change it?

    The documentation for Dynamixel protocol 2 (used by the XM430) talks about this. There is, for example, a "multi turn" mode. Or you can turn on "wheel mode," move forward, and then turn back on...

    That's not too bad. Although 190 F *is* hot enough to congeal an egg ... but not hot enough to destroy most linear ICs like a regulator (typically rated to 150C or so for junction temperature.)
