  2. Project Re: 3D Printed Robotic Arm with 6 DOF Plus a Gripper

I'm using the Kinect for Windows SDK.

When I have used Kinect with mobile robots I usually make the Kinect fixed and remote the commands to the robot.
  3. Project Re: 3D Printed Robotic Arm with 6 DOF Plus a Gripper

I added interactive Kinect control and some gesture recognition for the Seattle Mini Maker Faire.

  4. Project Re: 3D Printed Robotic Arm with 6 DOF Plus a Gripper

I used the Dynamixel SDK from Robotis to create a C# WPF application that communicates over a USB2Dynamixel connector. My app constantly monitors and displays all the servo's temperature, torque and...
  5. Project Re: 3D Printed Robotic Arm with 6 DOF Plus a Gripper

I upgraded the most taxed servo to an mx106 and it is running quite well.

    Here it is stacking dice.

    Question(s) Re: Need Dynamixel Advice

The servo still moves smoothly and accurately when told to move to a goal position, but moving it by hand with no torque (or powered off) is super sticky and jerky. Unfortunately this completely...

It does float around the 1/4 max torque for periods of time, but is usually lower and sometimes spikes to between 50% and 75%.

  8. Project Re: 3D Printed Robotic Arm with 6 DOF Plus a Gripper

I used a free 3D modeling tool called "Wings3D". I like it, but there are many things I could have done better with a more sophisticated tool such as recesses for the nuts that hold my joints. As...
  9. Project Re: 3D Printed Robotic Arm with 6 DOF Plus a Gripper

I have access to a 3D printer at work. I have to double check, but I'm guestimating it was about 200$ in material (including print support material)
  10. Project 3D Printed Robotic Arm with 6 DOF Plus a Gripper

First time picking up an object with my 3D printed robotic arm.
This arm is inspired in design by the KUKA LBR (but not nearly as sturdy or capable as the KUKA arm).
    It uses Dynamixel servos...

Thank you both! Great information in both replies.

Looks like I need to find a more powerful power supply… shucks! :veryhappy:

I’m very interested in the dedicated power line with...

    Question(s) Need Dynamixel Advice

I am building a 6 DOF robotic arm and have designed it around Dynamixel servos but before I spend $1000+ on parts, I hope I can get some questions answered.
Ideally I need to operate 6 servos plus a...
