I have been thinking about getting another stock rover kit or platform. I don't really want a kit that uses CR servos because I know it won't hold everything I want to put on it. This is why I designed new decks for W.A.L.T.E.R.

The purpose of this new rover would be to experiment with things like line following, obstacle avoidance, etc. I remember when all I had was a single sensor (Lynxmotion IR Proximity Detector Sensor), and I learned to use that real well before I added any other sensors. I don't plan to do anything to this platform other than add, remove, and rearrange sensors as well as modify software. I will try to resist making any major modifications to the platform - I just want something stock I can tinker with, not tear apart like I did with the kit that started W.A.L.T.E.R. out. Maybe I will even see if I can get it into a competition of some sort.

I'd like to make an automated kitty toy that would react to my cat and even sometimes get a little agressive and chase her around - she is a true scaredy cat, affraid of pretty much anything loud, other people, etc. I'm the only one she isn't affraid of, and she likes to stalk my feet. I could even program it to patrol and keep my kitty out of the kitchen when I am not in there doing something. I don't think anyone has done this sort of thing before.

I like the Trekker Chassis, Rogue Blue ERS, and the Lynxmotion A4WD 1 with no electronics +Sabertooth dual 10A motor driver. The latter is the only other stock two wheel platform I like.

What I really want to know about the Trekker Chassis and Rogue Blue ERS is if there are mounting holes compatible with the Lynxmotion Bot Board II, or which controller boards there are mounting holes for. Right now I am looking at other microcontrollers compatible with the Bot Board II.

For a high end rover, I'm seriously looking at the Surveyor SRV-1. I got a heads up that there is a new base coming out for it that will be wheel driven instead of track driven. I'm not sure which I like best. I've never had a track driven robot, but have considered putting W.A.L.T.E.R. on a Lynxmotion Tri-Track Chassis.
