Thread: Help me find a source for these connectors!!

  1. Help me find a source for these connectors!!

I've just wasted an embarrasing amount of time scouring DigiKey for this part, and it's driving me NUTS. It's such a simple part. A 1/10" pitch breakaway male pin header with gold-plated 1/4" contacts on both sides. I have a handful of them laying around, but I want to find a source for them because they come in really handy for changing the gender of multipin connectors and, you know, connecting stuff.

    These little gems right here:

I had no problem finding headers with a shorter through-hole tail, but that just doesn't cut it. Does anybody know where the heck can I get these things?

I believe these are the same except shorter on one end.

Those are the shorties. I think these are closer to what he's looking for from the same source:

I can't get there via palmtop at the moment, but I also remember seeing them (maybe a little cheaper) at AllElectronics or WeirdStuff.

Thanks, but short end = no good.

That's it! I think my problem was that I was looking for them in bulk 40-pin rows. I may have to settle for this. Thanks!

I know I've seen 'em in bulk. ATM I'm not in a position to dig around, but at least you know you're not losing your mind [over this anyway]!

Why not go direct to the source? Samtec makes them in like 20 different lengths.

    For instance:
    TSW-140-16-G-S
Is a 40 pin, .32" and .31" length on either side, gold plated single row header. Standard pricing is $2.4 ea.

I could find them equal length in the datasheet, but not the easiest to read datasheet anyway. http://www.samtec.com/ftppub/cpdf/TSW-MK.PDF

Yikes. That data sheet is pretty overstimulating. Found what I needed, though.

As hard as it is to find those, maybe Matt would be willing to pick them up as a product. I've been looking for these also. They are also very useful for using on solderless breadboards because the regular pin headers don't go into the board far enough to stay. They keep popping out, which is frustrating. I would use them to breadboard sensor circuits too.
