I'm thinking I'm blow hardy enough to write an eductional book on robotics.
anything you think I need to put in it?

introductions to everything robotics:
motors
servos
microcontrollers
servo controllers
linear actuators
all the most common & simple to understand sensors
just to name a few![]()
In the long history of humankind (and animal kind, too) those who learned to collaborate and improvise most effectively have prevailed - Charles Darwin
An exploration of navigation concepts would be key, I think.
Good idea, go for it DB!

OK...as I write I'll post it here.
i think in the intro of your book you should put how the robot works like how the brain of the robot sends and recieves signals... plus i would totally buy your book of you explaned how artifical inteligence worked.. i've allways wanted to know how that was possible..
An exploration of AI/NN/Genetic Algorithms isn't a beginning level sort of topic unfortunately. Doing it any real justice requires a tremendous amount of math... For simple AI, you should look into game programming books.

Maybe I should join you darkback2 in the mechanical side of robotics as this is my forte in robotics.I have lots of hi res pics of robotic construction of different projects and different materials.
People yearn after this robotic dream, but you can't strip your life of all meaning, emotion and feeling and expect to function.
Introduction to making a robot brain with components.
Hello,
I think that the hardest part about making a book about robotics is to cover a section of robotics that is interesting and has not already been covered by a million other books.
How to make robot soccor players or how to make humanoid robots with topics like using a gyro or accelemeter or controlling your robot with a PDA would sell better then writing another book about stepper motors. Especially in a day and age when there is a lot of this information available on the internet about servos and what not.

4mem8...I have an outline of sorts...I'm on the road right now, and typing with my big fat fingers on this tiny keyboard is killing me. I'll post my ideas tomorrow.
Asbrandsson...I totally understand. I probably won't come at it from the typical angle, because I can't. I just don't have the right background...I'll post my outline. I know I haven't read that many books on robotics...but I think/hope this will be little bit different.
