Thread: Robotic Fish

  1. Robotic Fish

    Hey everyone,

I saw this video on you tube and I thought it was awesome! It is the most realistic robotic fish I have ever seen. Most of you have probably already seen this, but I thought I should bring it up. I wonder how they manage to work this robot in water?

    Here is the link:

Here is another video of of a different robotic fish.

This all looks very complicated to program! Is that true?

Define "complicated" - complicated like "I can't make my legos play rock paper scissors" or complicated like "we put a partially autonomous rover on the surface of Mars"

"Complicated" is a matter of perspective.

Yeah, she split this out from there - hers was the last post in that thread, referencing this project.

    Re: Robotic Fish

not knowing ANYTHING about programing, I can only comment on the mechanics of the motion. The fish locomotion is not that difficult to grasp, it isn't a very hard thing to visualize. But I can't imagine what it takes to make the buoyancy and waterproofing right... one simple failure or mistake, and all electronics would be ruined. Anyway, I'd imagine programing wouldn't be a difficult thing to achieve for this, but I really wouldn't know what's easy and what's not

lol HAHA! Adrenalynn, Are you making fun of me? lol. Okay well, let me put it this way. What kind of programming language do you think this fish takes to run so well?

    Cute, 'E!

What kind of programming language? Whatever its microcontroller wants.

It's not the language, just about any language can do just about any thing. It's the programmer using the language that's important.

Ahh. Do you know how they make everything water proof. That is the one trick out of the book that I heard is really challenging. It is really cool though.

  10. Re: Robotic Fish

I have some information on my AUV pages how I make my sub waterproof. Specifically, this page describes the thruster details...
