Thread: Gargantua The massive Hexapod

  1. Gargantua The massive Hexapod

This is a work in progress. I started with a concept then 3d printed the parts. There are 24 servos and I'm using EZ Robots controller. I'm also working on a live IK bridge using Unity, so you can animate it live. Check it out and tell me what you think.

Oh, wow, that is pretty large!
    What servos are you using?
What load have you calculated that size to generate?

Im using the LD-20MG Full Metal Gear Standard Digital Servo. Whole system uses 7.v volt. The the first servos I tried had too much backlash. These have very little. Rated at 20KG/CM, seem to be doing a good job. Walking it still a challenge as hes front heavy. So I have the battery placement in the rear not to better balance. Once I get the IK completely rigged, creating a walk cycle will be much easier.
