Maker Faire 2019 Mech Warfare (WMFNY in Queens on Sept 21 and 22)

Attention all Mech Warfare competitors (Update as of 18 JUL).

So I've received some disappointing news that I cannot host a competition at West Point this Fall.
We will still introduce Mech Warfare to our club and we will fabricate our own arena, I just cannot "Host a competition" yet... Separately, I welcome guests that would like to come to visit with our team. Please! Please, bring your Mechs!!! It would be great to have any visitors to help inspire our students with your designs.

Again, there will not be a Mech Warfare Event at West Point during September 2019. If you would like to visit West Point, I would be happy to host. Please send a note to [email protected] if interested.

On a positive note, maybe MakerFaire has a little life left... https://techcrunch.com/2019/07/10/ma...ake-community/ and while it doesn't seem like they are going to be ready to support a Maker Faire Bay Area or World Maker Faire New York, some of the smaller faires are continuing. Maybe we can keep Mech Warfare going with the smaller venues?

Looks good. I plan to be there with at least one of my Mechs (maybe two if I can fit them into the same case)

I couldn't see from the MW sketch -- what's the area of the arena? The initial MW arena was smaller than the current R-Team one, and it grew in size based on learnings AFAIK.

Yep, as I said in person, I will be there. Mikhail should be able to make it to I think. Hopefully with at least 2 mechs, since I can drive!

Assuming the Princeton groups stays on task this summer, we'll be there with one mech.

Btw, I find that the "edit the top post" mode of update is good for "what is the latest status" but bad for "what changed since last time?"

Where is "git for forums" when you need it? :-D

I think I have a pack of safety glasses (the narrow yellow kind) in the garage, that I could donate if you haven't already arranged to get them from elsewhere.

I agree that the "edit the top post" post method has it's good and bad. Hopefully, I didn't send out too much misinformation.

Even with the unfortunate cancelation of World Maker Faire NY and not hosting at West Point, it would be great to have you show off your designs to the cadets! You've done some great work! Plus, it would be an honor to give you the grand tour of the place.

Apologies for any misunderstanding but I have not had any commitments for any kind of events since I stated I could not host a competition on the weekend of the 28th. At this point, we will not be hosting any event in September. It is unfortunate that world maker faire ny was not a go this year but we will see what happens in the future.
