The hardware serial port is used to communicate with DYNAMIXEL, therefore, RC-100 or LN-101 has to be connected to the software serial communication port(SW TX/RX) via Arduino pin 7 and 8.

There is only one hardware serial port on the UNO. It is connected to a USB to UART IC to give a virtual serial port used for programming and Arduino IDE Serial Monitor. It is also always being used for controlling the dynamixel buss, so cannot be connected to the Serial Monitor for debug output. You need an LN-101 or similar USB to UART adapter to connect to the software serial port to get the debug output (and cannot be used for programming the Arduino UNO).

Also, don't remove a question just because it's answered. Others on the internet have the same question. If it's not preserved in the thread, google won't find it the next time around, and the cycle repeats.
